How I Write My Stories

Writing Tips

Every great story starts with a single spark of imagination. For me, that spark usually shows up when I least expect it — sometimes during a long car ride, sometimes right before bed, and sometimes when I’m sketching dinosaurs in my notebook.

The trick is catching the spark before it disappears. I keep a little notebook with me wherever I go so I can write down ideas the moment they hit. Even if it’s just one sentence or a doodle, it’s enough to come back to later.

My three steps for any story

  1. Find the spark. One character. One place. One question.
  2. Ask “what if?” What if the smallest dinosaur was the bravest? What if a kid could roar loud enough to wake the world?
  3. Write the first scene. Don’t worry about being perfect — just get to the action.

That’s exactly how The T‑Rex King: Rise of the Roaring Alliance started — with one question: what does true strength really mean? The rest of the story grew from there.

If you’ve ever wanted to write your own story, my advice is simple: start small, start today, and keep going. Every author you’ve ever loved started with a blank page too.
