Every great story starts with a single spark of imagination. For me, that spark usually shows up when I least expect it — sometimes during a long car ride, sometimes right before bed, and sometimes when I’m sketching dinosaurs in my notebook.
The trick is catching the spark before it disappears. I keep a little notebook with me wherever I go so I can write down ideas the moment they hit. Even if it’s just one sentence or a doodle, it’s enough to come back to later.
My three steps for any story
- Find the spark. One character. One place. One question.
- Ask “what if?” What if the smallest dinosaur was the bravest? What if a kid could roar loud enough to wake the world?
- Write the first scene. Don’t worry about being perfect — just get to the action.
That’s exactly how The T‑Rex King: Rise of the Roaring Alliance started — with one question: what does true strength really mean? The rest of the story grew from there.
If you’ve ever wanted to write your own story, my advice is simple: start small, start today, and keep going. Every author you’ve ever loved started with a blank page too.
